iar: magazine S

S = Scientific American [Volume 303 Number 3 September 2010 £4.20 pp 84+cover]

This magazine has been going even longer than The Lady! The first issue (then a one-page newsletter) was published in August 1845.

Would I buy again: yes

Time taken to read: several baths, but it's mainly been sat in the cupboard.

Most interesting thing: how a body decays after death; the time it takes varies a lot depending on conditions, but it can get down to the skeleton in at little as 2 weeks or as long as 2 years.

Most surprising thing: some jellyfish are immortal.

Most unlikely thing: bubble nucleation.

Alternatives: yes

Bought from:
WHSmiths in Liverpool Street Station. The young man was verbally polite, but didn't make eye contact. The oversized chocolate bars were on the counter but he didn't try and sell me one. He scanned a money off voucher but didn't give it to me.

[in case you were wondering... why there isn't a Q and surely we should have reached the end of the alphabet by now?! :) The only Q magazine I've found so far is "Q" and I'm pretty sure I've bought that before... U isn't that easy either, not sure about V, W will probably be okay, but X? And then for the grand finale it's probably going to end up being something like 'Yours' ("UK's favourite magazine for women in their prime") and 'ZOO' :-( ].
