iar: magazine I

I = intelligent life [Volume 3 Issue 4 Summer 2010 £4.95 pp 144]

  • Would I buy again: yeah - it's a long train journey read.
  • Time taken to read: meandered through on the first morning-after-the-night-before of a festival - a night spent with no sleep, no bath, first thing in the morning (David Hockney article, and a back-page observation-on-life tale about a day spent with roadies - they're all healthy hardworking tee-total celibates apparently...).
  • Surprise: that a film catering company only charges £15 a head for breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack.
  • Most interesting article: David Hockney - nothing really new, but I love reading about how he works and creates his paintings, and the enthusiasm that drives him.
  • It made me giggle: Extreme dog photography
  • 'If only I had hair like that' moment: Extreme dog photography ;-)
Alternatives: International DJ, Imagine FX (fantasy art), any number of iphone/ipad variants, or Inside Soap (shudder).

Bought in WHSmiths with a pack of gum. Paid by credit card, and served by a woman who was pretending she was elsewhere. She spent 3 minutes struggling to scan in 2 courtesy money-off vouchers that I didn't want so I left them on the counter.

[in case you were wondering... somehow I missed a week and skipped a letter - normal service has now been resumed].
