iar: magazine H

H = Hali [Issue 162 Winter 2009 £1 pp 148+16+cover]

  • Describe it: lots of pictures of rugs and a few other artefacts
      • Heard of it before? No
      • Would I buy again: No. And definitely not at £17 full price!
      • Time taken to read: a few brief dips
      Surprise: that Francis Bacon made rugs in his early life

      I like pictures of textiles and rugs. But articles about them... not so much. I might actually keep this magazine for a while though - the rest have gone straight in the bin!

      I love the simplicity of this - weave a rectangular piece of cloth, fold it in the middle, and cut a line in the centre to create a head opening.

      Bought: from a great market stall that sells non-current magazines for £1 or less! From a woman with long white hair who normally looks a bit miserable but was quite chirpy today. Bought 3 magazines, with 3 pound coins.

      Alternatives: hobo magazine, maybe some others...

      [in case you were wondering... I haven't finished with iar: magazine E yet...].
